SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is designed to verify if an e-mail message was sent by a certified server. Using SPF protection for a given domain name will prevent the faking of email addresses made with the domain. In simple words: enabling this feature for a domain name makes a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) containing the IP addresses of the servers that are permitted to send emails from mail boxes under the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. When an email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses verifies whether it originates from an official server. When it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, yet when it does not come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. Thus nobody can mask an email address then make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam. This approach is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

If you host your domain names in a shared hosting account with us and we manage the emails for them, you are able to enable SPF protection for any of them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in its own section where you will be able to see which domains are already secured. For those that are not, you can enable the SPF protection service and set up various things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your emails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and even to create a rule that emails can be sent only if your domains use our MX records. The aforementioned choice is the most secure one, and it can be used in the event that we manage the e-mail addresses for your domain names and you are not using some other e-mail service provider. The new records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email with your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, that comes as standard with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will provide you with an extremely user-friendly interface to activate the SPF protection service for each domain name that you host in your new account. Just a few clicks in the Emails section of Hepsia are enough for that and you'll only have to enter the hostname and the IP address of the mail server which will be allowed to send out messages from your e-mails. In case the e-mail messages are taken care of by us and not by some other supplier, you will be able to raise the protection level even more and enable an option for your outgoing e-mail messages to be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. This option will provide you with better control and it will eliminate any chance of someone counterfeiting your e-mails with the purpose of spamming or scamming people. It's not applicable in case just your website is hosted on our cutting-edge cloud hosting platform, while your e-mail addresses are handled by some other service provider. If you aren't sure what options to pick, our tech support crew will help you 24/7.
