Transferring an active domain name entails changing the registrar that handles the registration service, so after the transfer itself, you will have to manage things like renewal fees or DNS entry modifications through the new registrar company. The transfer process is standard with most domain extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and involve different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain name involves several necessary steps and one of them is unlocking the domain. The domain lock is a security option, which is being embraced by more and more domain name registry operators. It’s a default feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain name is locked, it won’t be possible to initiate a transfer procedure, so no one can even attempt to register your domain name. The lock can be removed only through the account where the domain name is registered and all new domains that support this feature are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Shared Hosting

If you get a shared hosting plan from our company, you will be able to manage all domains registered through us using our Hepsia Control Panel and you will be able to unlock any of them with only several mouse clicks. All registrations will be shown in alphabetical order in the Domain Manager section of the Control Panel and for each one of them you’ll notice a small padlock logo. Clicking on it will show you the present security lock status. If the domain name is locked and you would like to transfer it, you will just have to click once more and that’s it. Locking a domain name is just as easy and since the domain names are managed in the exact same place as the hosting account itself, you will not need to sign in and out of different platforms.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

In case you want to transfer a domain from our company to another domain registrar and you have a semi-dedicated server account, you’ll be able to get the domain ready with only several mouse clicks. All your domain name registrations will be displayed in a separate section of the Hepsia Control Panel – the very same tool via which you’ll manage your web hosting account. If a particular generic or country-code TLD supports the registrar lock feature, you’ll see a padlock icon. You can find out whether the domain name is locked or not by clicking on that icon once and you can modify the status by clicking once again. This is all it takes and there will be nothing else that you or we will need to do, so you can go ahead with the domain transfer straight away. The change will propagate momentarily, so you will not need to wait for the status to change on WHOIS lookup sites.
