When you add a domain name as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that specific service provider. On their end, 3 records are created automatically as soon as the domain address is added - one A record and two MX records. The first one is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the domain name where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the emails for that particular domain. The site and the e-mail hosting are usually perceived as one thing, when they're in fact two different services. Having separate records for them will allow you to have them with different providers if you wish. As an illustration, some new service provider could have exceptional uptime for your website, but you may not want to switch your e-mail messages from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain name to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the latter, you will get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an email - in any case, the company whose name servers are used for the domain address will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed site or your email is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every shared hosting plan which we offer you, will enable you to view, change and set up A and MX records for each domain name or subdomain in your account. From the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to see a list of all hosts inside the account in alphabetical order with their related records, so any update isn't going to take you more than a few mouse clicks. Creating new records is as simple if, for instance, you would like to use the e-mail services of another company and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. You may also set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. In other words, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it is going to contact the next one. With our advanced tool, you will be able to handle the records of your domains and subdomains easily even when you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will enable you to see the A and MX records for any of the domains or subdomains in your account and if necessary, to change any of them or set up new ones. Handling these records is quite easy because all domains/subdomains are going to be listed alphabetically, so modifying a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes just a few more clicks and if you experience any difficulties, you can check out our instructional videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by individuals with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to offer you full control over all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're moving your emails to a different provider and they ask you to create more than 2 different MX records, you can choose the priority of each one.
