If you have looked at a lot of sites, you have probably encountered some error message now and again. An error may take place if the hosting server can't process a request (Error 400), if you need to log in so that you can see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you aren't able to access some webpage (Error 403) or if a link leads to a file that is not on the web server (Error 404). Getting this sort of messages could often be annoying as the pages have absolutely nothing in common with the actual site. That’s why some website hosting providers permit you to use your own error pages which will match the style of your own site and which could have any content that you would like - information why the error has appeared, a suggestion how to proceed or even some humorous remark. This type of function shall help you keep the visitor on the website whatever the error or the reason for it.

Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting

The custom error pages feature is available with each and every shared hosting package we offer and you will be able to substitute the generic pages with your own with no more than several mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting CP. You'll have to produce the actual files and to upload them to your account, then to set them for a specific domain or subdomain through the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel. You can easily do this for every single website hosted inside the account independently, so that every group of custom made pages shall have identical design and style as the Internet site it's part of. If required, you may always go back to a default page from our system or to a default Apache server page. One other way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain/subdomain root folder and to add a few lines in it. If you haven't done this before, you may simply copy the required code from our Help article about this.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Servers

All of the semi-dedicated hosting plans which we provide support custom made error pages and it shall not take more than a few mouse clicks inside your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this feature. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your CP in which you will need to input the links to the custom-made files using basic drop-down menus and a time and effort saving interface. Of course, you must upload them inside your account before that. In case you don't need to employ this feature at some point, you can easily deactivate it just as fast and select an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable when your visitors encounter an error. If you'd prefer, you may also use an .htaccess file to activate the customized error pages. The file needs to contain a particular line of code as well as a link for every error type and you can easily find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
